Administrative lockout via unchecked role reassignment
Published Dec 16, 2024 · Updated Dec 17, 2024
Improper privilege handling in XIAO ClassCMS 4.0 through 4.8 allows remote authenticated users to strip administrator roles. The user-edit handler accepts a target username and rolehash from a permitted non-admin account without preventing changes to administrator memberships. Access to the Modify User Account permission is required; changing the sole administrator's role permanently removes administrative control and disrupts the site.
