Stored script execution via insufficient comment sanitization
Published Dec 16, 2024 · Updated Dec 17, 2024
Stored XSS in REBUILD 3.8.5 allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts in project members' browsers via task comments. The Project Task Comment Handler stores user-supplied HTML or JavaScript after insufficient sanitization and renders it without effective output escaping. An attacker needs permission to add a task comment, and execution occurs when a project group member views the affected task or comment.
