CVE-2024-12662Public exploit

Local Windows crash via null-dereferencing IOCTL

Published Dec 16, 2024 · Updated Dec 16, 2024

Null pointer dereference in IObit Advanced SystemCare Ultimate 17.0 allows local users to crash Windows through a driver IOCTL. AscRegistryFilter.sys processes IOCTL 0x8001E040 through a path that reaches a null pointer dereference rather than safely rejecting the request. Low-privilege local access is required; successful triggering causes a Windows blue-screen crash without reported confidentiality or integrity impact.
