Windows crash via unvalidated IOCTL buffer pointer
Published Dec 16, 2024 · Updated Dec 18, 2024
NULL pointer dereference in IObit Advanced SystemCare Ultimate 17.0 and earlier allows local users to crash Windows through a crafted IOCTL. AscRegistryFilter.sys exposes IOCTL 0x8001E01C to the Everyone group and dereferences the caller-supplied input-buffer address without validating it. A low-privilege local process can trigger the defect and force a Windows blue-screen crash; no confidentiality or integrity impact is reported.
