SYSTEM code execution via symbolic-link file creation
Published Dec 13, 2024 · Updated Dec 16, 2024
Local privilege escalation in Wacom Center 6.4.7.5003 allows local users to execute arbitrary code as SYSTEM through a symbolic link. WTabletServicePro.exe follows an attacker-created symbolic link while its privileged service creates a file, redirecting the write to an attacker-chosen path. Exploitation requires low-privileged local code execution and enables arbitrary code execution in the SYSTEM context through the resulting privileged file creation.
