CVE-2024-12548

Information disclosure via unchecked JP2 object use

Published Feb 11, 2025 · Updated Feb 12, 2025

Use-after-free in the JP2 parser in Tungsten Automation Power PDF 5.1.0.41 allows remote attackers to disclose process memory via a crafted file. The parser performs operations on an object without first validating that the object still exists, leaving a freed object accessible during JP2 processing. Exploitation requires the target to visit a malicious page or open a malicious file; the immediate impact is information disclosure, while code execution requires chaining with another flaw.
