Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Jan 23, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in VideoWhisper Broadcast Live Video 6.1.9 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through shortcode attributes. The videowhisper_hls shortcode handler places user-supplied attributes into generated page markup without sufficient sanitization or context-appropriate output escaping. Contributor-level access is required; the stored payload runs when a user opens the affected page, enabling script execution in that visitor's browser context.
