Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Dec 14, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in GeoDataSource Country Region DropDown 1.0.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts via shortcode attributes. The gds-country-dropdown shortcode renders user-supplied attributes without sufficient input sanitization or output escaping, preserving script markup in page content. Contributor-level access is required, and the injected script executes when an affected page is viewed, enabling browser-context data access or page modification.
