Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Dec 12, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in WP-Revive Adserver 2.2.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through wprevive_async attributes. The shortcode handler places user-supplied attributes into generated advertisement markup without sufficient sanitization or context-appropriate output escaping. Contributor-level access is required, and the stored script executes in a visitor's browser when the affected page is viewed, enabling actions or data access within that visitor's WordPress session.
