CVE-2024-12371Network attack vector

Unauthenticated device takeover via Policyholder creation

Published Dec 18, 2024 · Updated Dec 18, 2024

Missing authentication in Rockwell Automation PowerMonitor 1000 firmware before 4.020 allows remote attackers to take over devices via its API. The API accepts an unauthenticated request that configures a new Policyholder account, the device's highest-privilege user. Network reachability is sufficient; the resulting account can edit configuration, create administrators, and trigger a factory reset.
