Unauthenticated privilege escalation via user-controlled registration role
Published Mar 5, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Privilege escalation in Fave Themes Homey 2.4.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to create accounts with elevated WordPress roles. The homey_save_profile registration handler accepts an account role supplied during signup and assigns it without restricting the value to an ordinary new-user role. No authentication or user interaction is required; successful registration can yield an Administrator, Editor, or Shop Manager account with that role's permissions.
