Blocked-file disclosure via NTFS alternate stream alias
Published Mar 20, 2025 · Updated Mar 20, 2025
Path traversal in Gradio 5.0.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to read blocked files through NTFS Alternate Data Stream aliases. The is_in_or_equal path check resolves and compares request paths against blocked_paths but treats an NTFS ::$DATA alias as a different, unblocked name. Exploitation requires a Windows NTFS deployment that configures blocked_paths and knowledge of a blocked-file path; the result is disclosure of that file's contents.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
