Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Apr 17, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Stored XSS in Easy Social Feed before 6.5.6 allows remote authenticated users to execute script in administrators’ browsers via crafted shortcodes. The efb_likebox shortcode returns the fb_appid, locale, animate_effect, fanpage_url, box_width, and box_height attributes in page markup without validation or context-appropriate escaping. Contributor access is sufficient to store the payload, which runs when a higher-privileged user views the affected page and can act with that user’s browser privileges.
