Unauthenticated command execution via unsanitized credentials
Published Feb 21, 2024 · Updated Oct 21, 2025
OS command injection in Progress LoadMaster allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands through the management interface. The /access REST API passes attacker-controlled Basic Authentication username and password values through sprintf into system() without validation. Access to the administrative web interface is sufficient even when the API is disabled, and the resulting bal-user shell can be elevated to root through permitted sudo entries.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
