CVE-2024-1211Network attack vector

Account takeover via unconfirmed JWT identity linking

Published Jan 30, 2025 · Updated Jan 31, 2025

CSRF in affected GitLab CE/EE releases allows remote authenticated users to take over accounts through JWT OmniAuth identity linking. The OmniAuth callback flow linked a JWT-provided identity to an existing account without requiring the account owner to confirm the link. Exploitation requires JWT OmniAuth, an authenticated attacker, and victim interaction; a successful link grants access to the victim's account.
