Stored XSS via unrestricted avatar HTML upload
Published Dec 13, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in MStore API 4.16.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts through uploaded avatar HTML. The profile-picture upload handler fails to reject HTML content before storing it as a publicly accessible profile image. Subscriber-level access is required, and execution occurs only when another user opens the uploaded file, allowing script access within that user's browser context.
