Local privilege escalation via unquoted search path
Published Feb 2, 2024 · Updated Jun 13, 2025
Unquoted search path in PanteraSoft HDD Health 4.2.0.112 and earlier allows local users to gain elevated privileges via a crafted executable. The affected launch path contains spaces but lacks quotation marks, so path parsing can select an attacker-planted executable from a parent directory. Exploitation requires local low-privilege access and write access to that earlier-resolved location; INCIBE has not identified the affected path.
