Unauthenticated plugin state changes via unchecked admin actions
Published Jan 14, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in BoldGrid W3 Total Cache 2.8.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to alter plugin and extension activation. Administrative request handlers in Extensions_Plugin_Admin.php and Generic_Plugin_Admin.php perform activation and deactivation operations without checking the caller's capability. No account is required, and successful requests can disable the cache plugin or change its extension state, but no confidentiality or availability impact is reported.
