Sensitive data disclosure via failed bulk logging
Published May 1, 2025 · Updated May 1, 2025
Sensitive information exposure in Elastic APM Server after 8.0.0 and before 8.16.1 allows remote authenticated users to disclose document data. The partial-failure path for Elasticsearch bulk indexing writes parts of a rejected document body to APM Server error logs. Triggering the path requires low-privileged adjacent access; disclosure is limited to logged document content accessible to a log reader.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
