CVE-2024-11991Network attack vector

Canister memory read or write via incorrect barriers

Published Dec 9, 2024 · Updated Dec 9, 2024

Uninitialized memory access in DFINITY Motoko 0.9.0 through 0.13.3 allows remote attackers to read or write canister memory. Incorrect use of write barriers at several incremental garbage-collector sites causes the collector to access uninitialized memory. The canister must have been compiled with incremental garbage collection or enhanced orthogonal persistence, both non-default features.
