Application interruption via malformed HCF file
Published Feb 2, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Denial of service in Hyper's CdCatalog 2.3.1 allows local users to interrupt the application by opening a crafted HCF file. The public proof of concept supplies a 22-byte file of repeated 0x41 and 0x42 pairs; the CNA has not disclosed which parser operation mishandles it. Exploitation requires local access to direct the application to open the file; available evidence establishes an application-level service interruption but does not distinguish a crash from a hang.
