CVE-2024-1188Public exploit

Editor interruption via encryption passphrase workflow

Published Feb 2, 2024 · Updated Aug 26, 2024

Improper resource release in Rizonesoft Notepad3 1.0.2.350 allows local users to interrupt the editor through its encryption workflow. The public proof of concept loads 256 repeated bytes, sets an encryption passphrase, and invokes Encrypt using Passphrase; the faulty handler operation is undisclosed. A locally logged-in user must operate the desktop application, and the demonstrated consequence is loss of editor availability rather than data disclosure or modification.
