Stored XSS via unescaped tab descriptions
Published Dec 14, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in html5maps Tabs Maker 1.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through tab descriptions. The plugin insufficiently sanitizes tab-description input and fails to escape the stored value during page rendering, placing attacker-controlled markup in the response. Contributor-level access is required, and the script executes in the browser of a user who opens an injected page, enabling page-context data access or actions.
