Timing side channel in Devolutions XTS.NET before 2024.11.26 allows local users to weaken XTS encryption through timing observations. In GaloisMultiplyByTwo and GaloisUnmultiplyByTwo, carry-dependent branches reveal timing differences while XTS tweak values are processed. Repeated local observations under the advisory's required timing conditions reduce XTS toward ECB-like protection, enabling identical-block recognition and block swapping while making half of the key ineffective.
