Scoreboard manipulation via resettable bracket assignment
Published Jan 2, 2025 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Business logic error in CTFd 3.7.0 through 3.7.4 allows remote authenticated users to switch scoreboard brackets during a competition. CTFd/schemas/users.py accepts a null bracket identifier through the self-profile API, clearing the assignment before validation permits a second update to a different bracket. Any registered participant can bypass the one-time assignment rule and move between bracketed prize or scoring groups without administrator approval.
