Memory corruption via PKCS#7 key double free
Published Nov 26, 2024 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Double-free in Mozilla Firefox before 133, Firefox ESR before 128.7, and Thunderbird before 133 allows attackers to corrupt memory. In sec_pkcs7_decoder_start_decrypt(), failure to create a PKCS#7 decrypt object sends cleanup past an unconditional PK11_FreeSymKey call and frees the same bulk key again. The path is confirmed for Thunderbird S/MIME; Firefox links the function, but Mozilla has not identified a reachable Firefox call path.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
