CVE-2024-11693Network attack vector

Information disclosure via unrecognized .library-ms files

Published Nov 26, 2024 · Updated Nov 27, 2024

Download protection bypass in Firefox before 133, Firefox ESR before 128.5, and Thunderbird before 133 lets remote attackers suppress warnings. The executable-extension list omits .library-ms, so the download handler treats Windows Library Description files as non-executable and skips the open-file prompt. A user must open the downloaded file; Windows can then process its remote-share references and disclose information to an attacker-controlled share.
