CVE-2024-11692Public exploitNetwork attack vector

UI spoofing via background-tab select dropdown

Published Nov 26, 2024 · Updated Nov 3, 2025

UI spoofing in Firefox before 133, Firefox ESR before 128.5, and Thunderbird before 133 allows remote attackers to mislead users. DOM select-popup handling opens a dropdown from an inactive tab because navigation can race the browsing-context background-state update and pass existing checks. A victim must visit attacker-controlled content and interact with it; the overlay can impersonate content in the foreground tab but cannot alter that tab.
