CVE-2024-11614

Guest-triggered vSwitch crash via checksum length underflow

Published Dec 18, 2024 · Updated Nov 20, 2025

Out-of-bounds read in DPDK before 21.11-4 allows guest OS users to crash the vhost-user vSwitch via a crafted checksum request. In vhost_dequeue_offload, an unchecked csum_start beyond the packet length underflows the length passed to rte_raw_cksum_mbuf, causing a segmentation fault. The path is reachable only when a Vhost application registers devices with RTE_VHOST_USER_NET_COMPLIANT_OL_FLAGS; the reported consequence is a vSwitch service interruption.
