Code execution via JPM parser out-of-bounds write
Published Nov 22, 2024 · Updated Nov 22, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in the JPM parser in IrfanView 4.67 allows context-dependent attackers to execute code via a crafted JPM file. The parser inadequately validates user-supplied JPM data before writing to an allocated buffer, permitting a write past the buffer boundary. Exploitation requires a user to visit a malicious page or open the file, and resulting code runs in the current process context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
