Code execution via DXF parser type confusion
Published Nov 22, 2024 · Updated Nov 22, 2024
Type confusion in IrfanView 4.62 32-bit allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code when a crafted DXF file is opened. The DXF parser fails to validate user-supplied data before treating it as an incompatible type, but the precise parser function and object types are undisclosed. Execution requires a user to visit a malicious page or open a malicious file, and the resulting code runs in the IrfanView process context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
