Browser script execution via stored chat messages
Published Mar 20, 2025 · Updated Mar 20, 2025
Stored XSS in the Serge 0.9.0 chat prompt allows remote attackers to execute HTML and JavaScript when a user opens the affected chat. The chat prompt stores crafted message content without neutralizing executable markup and renders it when the chat is accessed. The attacker needs network access to send a message, and exploitation requires a user to view the stored chat, enabling unintended content and phishing.
