Stored script execution via unrestricted iframe attributes
Published Dec 18, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in ScanCircle 2.9.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts through crafted shortcode attributes. The scancircle_results shortcode copies optional iframe attributes into rendered markup without rejecting HTML event-handler names or escaping their values. Contributor-level access is sufficient to store a payload that runs in a visitor's browser when the affected post or page is viewed.
