CVE-2024-11393Network attack vector

Code execution via unsafe model deserialization

Published Nov 22, 2024 · Updated Dec 4, 2024

Deserialization in MaskFormer conversion code in Hugging Face Transformers allows remote attackers to execute code through a malicious model file. The conversion script loads attacker-controlled PyTorch checkpoint data through unsafe Python pickle deserialization without validating the object graph. Execution requires a user to run the optional MaskFormer conversion script on the crafted artifact, and the code runs with that user's privileges.
