Code execution via unsafe conversion-script deserialization
Published Nov 22, 2024 · Updated Nov 26, 2024
Deserialization in MobileViTV2 conversion scripts in Hugging Face Transformers before 4.48.0 allows remote attackers to execute code. The bundled conversion scripts open insecure pickle or legacy Torch checkpoint formats without validating serialized content before deserialization. Exploitation requires a user to download a malicious file and invoke an obscure conversion script, after which code runs with the current user's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
