Local application crash via unchecked record read
Published Nov 15, 2024 · Updated Nov 19, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in SourceCodester Student Record Management System 1.0 allows local users to crash the application. The View All Student Marks branch reads fields from student_record.txt into a 20-byte stack array without limiting field length. Access requires the application's admin password, and an oversized record can corrupt adjacent stack memory and terminate the process.
