Out-of-bounds writes via overflowing PDO quote lengths
Published Nov 24, 2024 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Integer overflow in PHP 8.1.0 through 8.3.13 allows attackers to corrupt memory through oversized PDO Firebird or DB-Library quoted strings. The Firebird and DB-Library quote implementations add escape and delimiter bytes to attacker-influenced string lengths without rejecting totals above ZSTR_MAX_LEN, allocate a wrapped or invalidly sized buffer, and then write beyond it. Reachability requires an application to pass an extremely long string to an affected PDO driver's quoting path; 32-bit runtimes are especially exposed, and the established consequence is memory corruption or a process crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
