CVE-2024-11209Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Account takeover via reusable 2FA execution token

Published Nov 14, 2024 · Updated Nov 14, 2024

Improper authentication in Apereo CAS 6.6 2FA login handling allows attackers to access user accounts without valid credentials or an OTP. The login flow accepts an execution value captured after OTP entry and reuses it in a later login, skipping credential, CAPTCHA, and OTP validation. Exploitation requires obtaining that value from a valid session; reuse grants the account access associated with that authentication flow.
