DNS service interruption via Additional-section record amplification

Resource exhaustion in affected ISC BIND 9 releases allows remote attackers to interrupt DNS service by sending crafted queries. Specially constructed zones cause some queries to produce responses with numerous Additional-section records, and repeated queries force named or an independent resolver to spend disproportionate CPU processing them. Exploitation generally requires a deliberately crafted zone; sustained load can prevent responses to other clients without affecting confidentiality or integrity.
