CVE-2024-11184Network attack vector

Author-level stored XSS via unsanitized SVG uploads

Published Jan 2, 2025 · Updated Jan 6, 2025

Stored XSS in WP Enabled SVG 0.7 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to upload SVG files containing executable scripts. The Media Library upload path accepts SVG content without removing script-capable elements or attributes, leaving the payload stored as an attachment. An Author-or-higher account must upload the crafted file, and another user must view it for the script to run in that site's origin.
