Stored XSS via unsanitized email image tags
Published Nov 15, 2024 · Updated Oct 21, 2025
Stored XSS in MDaemon Email Server 24.5.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to run JavaScript in a webmail user's browser. Webmail fails to neutralize JavaScript embedded in an img tag of an attacker-supplied HTML email before rendering the stored message. Exploitation requires the recipient to view the message, and the script runs with that user's webmail context, enabling browser-session data access and actions.
