Unauthenticated server crash via uncaught checkBan exception
Published Mar 20, 2025 · Updated Oct 15, 2025
Uncaught exception handling in LibreChat before 0.7.6 allows remote attackers to crash the server with a crafted unauthenticated request. The checkBan middleware performs cache, user-lookup, and log-store operations without an enclosing exception handler, allowing a request-triggered rejection to escape. No account is required; successful exploitation terminates the server process and interrupts service until it restarts.
