Unauthenticated service crash via unbounded avatar upload
Published Mar 20, 2025 · Updated Oct 15, 2025
Improper upload validation in Danny Avila LibreChat before 0.7.6 allows remote attackers to crash the server via an oversized avatar. The avatar upload route uses Multer's default in-memory storage without a file-size limit, so it buffers the entire multipart file before validation. No authentication or user interaction is required, and exhausting available memory terminates the service for all users.
