Authenticated arbitrary file write via upload traversal
Published Mar 20, 2025 · Updated Mar 20, 2025
Path traversal in LibreChat before 0.7.6 allows remote authenticated users to write arbitrary files through crafted upload filenames. In api/server/routes/files/multer.js, the disk-storage callback decoded file.originalname and used path.basename alone, leaving backslash traversal sequences unneutralized. A logged-in account is required; successful abuse can overwrite server-accessible files and result in server-side code execution.
