CVE-2024-11144Public exploitNetwork attack vector

FTP service crash via worker cleanup race

Published Dec 16, 2024 · Updated Dec 16, 2024

Race condition in LightFTP 2.3 allows remote attackers to crash the FTP service through unauthenticated EPRT command sequences. In worker-thread cleanup, an unprotected shared context lets WorkerThreadId change during a two-second delay before pthread_join uses it, causing a segmentation fault. Anonymous FTP access and a second connection during cleanup are sufficient; termination interrupts all transfers and can leave active uploads or downloads incomplete.
