Stored XSS via unsanitized SVG uploads
Published Dec 4, 2024 · Updated Dec 4, 2024
Stored XSS in the SG Helper plugin for WordPress 1.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts through uploaded SVG files. The upload path accepts SVG content without sufficient sanitization, and the file is later served without output escaping, preserving attacker-controlled script. Administrator-level access is required to upload the file; the script executes when another user accesses it and can act within that user's browser context.
