Unauthenticated settings modification via unchecked admin_init
Published Feb 21, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in David Cramer's Plugin Groups 2.0.6 and earlier allows remote attackers to alter plugin settings. The admin_init() handler processes settings-changing requests without checking whether the requester has the required WordPress capability. Unauthenticated network access is sufficient; malicious settings changes can misconfigure the plugin and interrupt the WordPress service.
