Unauthenticated shortcode execution via unvalidated AJAX input
Published Dec 4, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Code injection in WPKube Authors List 2.0.4 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary WordPress shortcodes via AJAX. The update_authors_list_ajax handler sends an attacker-controlled request value to do_shortcode without validating which shortcode will run. No authentication or user interaction is required; the resulting effect is bounded by the data access or state changes permitted by installed shortcode callbacks.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
