CVE-2024-10941Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Denial of service via malformed file URI parsing

Published Nov 6, 2024 · Updated Feb 10, 2025

Denial of service in Mozilla Firefox before 126 allows remote attackers to crash the browser through a malicious iframe. The networking URL parser preserves a dot segment in file:. or file:.. instead of normalizing it to file:///, producing a malformed principal URI that fails IPC deserialization in the parent process. A user must load attacker-controlled web content; the crash is non-exploitable and only interrupts the browser process.
