CVE-2024-10934Network attack vector

Kernel memory corruption via stale NFS mbuf pointers

Published Nov 15, 2024 · Updated Oct 2, 2025

NFS memory-safety flaws in OpenBSD 7.4 and 7.5 allow remote attackers to corrupt kernel memory via crafted NFS traffic. Error paths free nmi_mrep or nmi_mreq mbufs without clearing their pointers, allowing later retry or cleanup processing to free the same storage again; a server name-length path also continues with an uninitialized value. Reachability requires an enabled NFS server or an NFS client communicating with an attacker-controlled server, and OpenBSD does not enable NFS by default.
